Social Security Disability
Burton & Associates represents citizens who have become disabled and who are unable to obtain gainful employment as a result of their disability. If a person suffers from a medically determinable impairment and is unable to work for a period of twelve months or is expected to be unable to work for a period of twelve months, that person may be eligible to receive Social Security Disability. Even if a disabled person has not paid in enough social security, he or she may qualify for what is known as Supplemental Security Income. Disabilities can have a devastating effect on not only the disabled party but also his or her family and we will be there when you need help. Below we have outlined some basic rights which are currently available to someone who is disabled. If we can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to call or email with your questions. We're here to help!

Your rights
If you have a disability that will last for at least a year or result in death, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability payments. If you are disabled, then certain family members may also qualify for benefits on your work record.

To qualify for disability benefits, you must have worked long enough and recently enough under Social Security. You can earn up to a maximum of four credits per year. The number of work credits needed for disability benefits depends on your age when you become disabled.

Besides cash disability payments, you will receive Medicare after you have been getting disability benefits for two years. Medicare helps pay hospital and doctor bills.

Your benefits will continue as long as you are disabled. If you are receiving disability benefits at age 65, they become retirement benefits.

If you are receiving disability benefits and want to try to go back to work, there are trial work periods that may extend your benefits while you attempt to work.

We understand the bureaucracy of the Social Security Administration and want to help you obtain disability benefits. We will assist in completing the required paperwork, obtaining medical evidence and presenting your case to the judge.

Our office is committed to providing personal courteous service to our clients. Our fees are contingent upon recovery of benefits and in most cases limited to 25% of your back pay up to a maximum of $5,300.00. Should you ever need our assistance, please do not hesitate to call.
