The Oklahoma City Law firm, Burton Law Group, P.C., was founded by the Late Lew Gravitt in 1992. Today, the firm is the people’s choice for personal injury attorneys, social security attorneys, and workers compensation attorneys. The firm serves all of Oklahoma and has offices in Oklahoma City, Walters, and Tulsa.

In 2016, our firm was instrumental in helping undo a great injustice passed into law at the request of a few irresponsible employers. The Oklahoma Supreme Court struck down the Opt Out Act on September 13, 2016, as an unconstitutional special law. Dillard’s department store opted out of the Oklahoma Workers Compensation Act when it became lawful to do so on February 1, 2014. Subsequently, many injured workers were denied benefits that would have otherwise been due under the Workers’ Compensation Act. Employers were allowed to deny claims and if the employee sought an appeal the appeal was decided by Dillard’s much like the fox watching the hen house.

Though there are no guarantees, with the Burton Law Group, P.C., you can be confident that you have a capable and tenacious law firm at your side. We will devote our time, dedication, and all the resources necessary to pursue the best possible outcome for you.

Thank you for visiting the Burton Law website, and learning about our law firm. Our attorneys are some of the best in the state and highly skilled in the above practice areas. We bring you outstanding expertise combined with courtesy and compassion. We handle cases in the following legal areas:

Personal Injury

If you or a family member has experienced an accident or injury of any kind, it is always wise to learn your options and find out if you can benefit by working with knowledgeable injury attorneys such as ourselves. Pain and health problems can show up a day, a week, or even a month after an accident or fall has occurred. This is why it is important to document the incident right away and receive legal advisement.

Workers Compensation

When you’ve been injured in the workplace or while performing a task or errand for your employer, you are entitled to Workers Compensation Benefits. Sometimes, employers and insurance companies do not want to pay these benefits, and will fight your claim. We will be tenacious in getting your claim processed and getting money in your pocket.

Social Security Disability

If you have a medical condition/ health problems or mental condition that prevents you from working a regular, paying job, you can apply for benefits through the United States Social Security program. Depending on your situation, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance benefits (you are blind or disabled and have paid into Social security) OR Supplemental Security Income benefits (you are disabled or blind and meet the various criteria required, which we can explain to you).

We help you prepare and submit your claim, giving you the advantage of our expertise in filing SSDI and SSI claims. Your claim is reviewed by the Social Security Administration and sometimes, even though you may be deserving, your claim is denied.

If this happens to you, don’t be disheartened. Many people who are denied benefits the first time often end up receiving benefits through the appeal process, which we adeptly handle for you as well. Whether you have not yet applied for SSI benefits, or you’ve been denied, it pays to learn how we can help you. Call us for a Free Consultation on your Social Security case.

Employment Law

In Oklahoma, there are many laws that affect employees and employers. If you are in a dispute with a current or former employer, you owe it to yourself to see how our legal expertise can aid your employment case. We often file employment lawsuits that lead to positive outcomes for our clients, who could not have prevailed without our skilled legal assistance.

Don’t go it alone. Our Employment Law Attorneys know the laws inside and out, and can make sure you do everything correctly to benefit your case. Not only that, they’ll do everything in their power to see it through and find you the best possible resolution.
